Start a classroom presentation program for your section

SPE Aberdeen Section donated 500 books to schools in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
- Recruit members to participate in your program
- Have enough Energy4me Kits on hand for your section’s size and desired outreach efforts
- Develop a plan and program goals with your section's participants (i.e. which schools to target, how many presentations you would like to hold each year).
- Create a “Magic Suitcase” of props to accompany the Energy4me Kit such as
- Proppant
- Cores/plugs (especially with a residual hydrocarbon odor)
- Set well cement
- Well casing sample
- Frac fluid
- Hydrocarbon sample kits
- Fossils
- Digital videos (animated or actual) that are oilfield related
- Let your local schools know you are available to give classroom presentations. Send a letter or a flyer to the school administration or principals. You can customize this flyer with your section's unique energy education programs and send it to schools to promote your program. Encourage participants to volunteer at their own child's school or at a school in their neighborhood.
- Find a volunteer from your section participants when a school requests a speaker.
- Contact EnergyEd@energy4me.org to get a free “Oil and Natural Gas” book to donate during the presentation, order free career brochures and smart energy choice bookmarks. We will need to know the following:
- Presentation date
- School or group name
- Grade level
- Number of students
- School’s shipping address with contact name (This is for our records. The actual book will be shipped to the requestor.)
- Member will prepare and give their presentation.
Find resources and tips for giving a presentation.
- Send Energy4me details and photos of your section’s energy education activities to be considered for posting on www.energy4me.org.
