Get involved in energy education

Winner of Russia Oil and Gas "Children of Oilmen" art contest
- Give a classroom presentation. Email us the details, and we will send an "Oil and Natural Gas" book to donate to the school.
- Start a classroom presentation program for your SPE section
- Donate Energy4me materials to teachers
- Offer scholarships to secondary or university students
- Provide grants for schools or teachers
- Judge science fair projects or speak at a career fair for secondary students
- Help Boy and Girl Scouts earn Energy or Engineering Merit Badges.
- Organize geological field trips
- Provide training to teachers, career counselors, parents, and others who interact directly with students
- Take part in Engineers Week activities that are held annually in February (SPE is a sponsoring society of this global event that focuses on engineering careers). See eweek.org for more information.
- Start a semi-monthly/monthly after school science club meeting at a local high school. You could provide guest speakers to talk about their profession, coordinate field trips, mentor students, and more! See example from the SPE Alaska Section.
- Hold an energy theme art contest. See example from Russia.
A sponsoring company could donate a hallway for the "art gallery" and invite parents and kids for a tour. Winners could be announced at the end of the event.
- Tell friends, family, and the community about SPE’s energy education web site, Energy4me.org.
