Petroleum Museums

One way to learn about the early history of the oil and gas industry is to visit one of the many petroleum museums. Many of these museums display early photos and explain the methods and sheer luck that were a part of early exploration. Others address more current issues and may emphasize the many everyday items derived from oil and gas.

Some of these museums have information available online, but in many cases, an in-person visit is necessary to provide a better understanding of the industry's history and contributions. Most of the museums below are located in the US, which is one of the oldest producing areas.
