Petroleum Engineering Degree Information

Program Description Link: http://www.engineering.leeds.ac.uk/speme/undergraduate/degree-petroleum-engineering/

Curriculum Description

Undergraduate:

The program educates the student fully in the basic sciences of geology, physics, mathematics, chemistry and all of the engineering sciences required in the discovery, development, production, evaluation, and transportation of petroleum fluids. Global economic growth still requires an ever-increasing demand for oil and gas. Currently, there is a major international shortage of qualified engineers in the petroleum industry and this new course is designed to produce graduates who wish to take advantage of the exciting and highly rewarding career prospects in this area. Details about the modules available on the course c an be found on the School of Process, Environmental and Materials Engineering/Centre for Integrated Petroleum Engineering and Geoscience (CIPEG) Leeds websites.

Doctorate:

We offer a variety of PhD in Petroleum Engineering as well as petroleum facing PhD studies through a new CiPEG Doctoral Training Centre in Low Carbon Technologies.

Program Admission Requirements

Undergraduate:

Normally 3 A-levels or equivalent at grades AAB, including two of mathematics, physics, chemistry or geology. GCSEs or equivalent in English, mathematics, physics and chemistry are required if not offered at A- or AS-level. Alternative qualifications (eg IB, Foundation or Access course, Scottish Highers, etc) at a comparable level will also be considered.

English language requirements: A pass at GCSE level in English Language (grade C or above). International students must have an English language qualification at a suitable level, for example IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.
