“Diversity of Engineering Fields” presentation—SPE gaves a presentation to students at San Ramon Valley high school, focusing on the range of engineering professions available in the oil industry.

Permian Basin Section
Midland, TX USA

Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day—SPE hosted the annual 'Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day' at Midland College where local high school sophomore, junior, and senior girls learned what engineering is all about and won great prizes.

Oklahoma City Section
Oklahoma City, OK USA

“Engineer for a Day”—high-school students had an opportunity "work" as a petroleum engineer, as energy companies (Devon, High Mount, Linn Energy, Chesapeake, and BJ Services) hosted a one-day mentorship program.

Joint Engineering Society Banquet—a reception and dinner for all the engineering societies with guest speaker.

OEF Engineering Fair—SPE had a booth at the Oklahoma Engineering Foundation (OEF) Engineering Fair with games, prizes and career brochures.

San Joaquin Valley Section
Bakersfield, CA USA

Engineers Day at Kern County Museum—high-school students in the greater Bakersfield area, who are enrolled in a college-preparatory program for math or science met engineers at  exhibit booths, listened to career and industry-related presentations, saw live demonstrations, toured the world-class Black Gold Oil Museum, and ate a barbeque lunch sponsored by Halliburton.

East Texas Section

Annual Engineers Week Banquet—SPE had a booth for high-school and college students with flyers and demonstration materials.

Young Engineers Award Recognition Dinner—SPE Gulf Coast Section Young Engineer of the Year Nominee was honored at the dinner.

Billings Petroleum Section
Billings, MT USA

“Chicks Dig Science”—SPE had a booth at the event where engineers will share about the industry. “Chicks Dig Science,” offered by Montana State University-Billings, is a one-day event designed for girls in grades 4 through 8 to learn about science and high-tech jobs.
